Feedback about ARTea Party at the Chilterns MS Centre

"Many, many years ago and in school days, I always looked forward to my art lessons. During COVID lockdown my daughter and I decided to take up painting and it’s fair to say we have very different styles and approach to art. I started to look into local art classes and found this taster session which is a very good find! Fiona was very welcoming and came with a vast array of paints and techniques. I came away with 4 pieces which impressed my family and am very much looking forward to the next class." Sue

"Both my children love art, I am a complete non-artist. We did not have any expectations, just wanted to have fun and try something new. We felt welcomed and very comfortable. The class had a good selection of art materials and it was easily set out. Kids loved the paint spreying best!" Roxanne

"I was motivated to try Arty Party as I love all things Arts and Crafts! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I wasn't really sure what to start with but appreciated some guidance. We got some lovely drawins and paintings and of course loved the biscuits!" Gwladys

https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2010/07/what-do-we-really-mean-by-art/

"The 20th century was a turning point in our conception of art, which is mainly why contemporary artists frequently reach for new concepts, break with tradition and reject classic notions of beauty. All these factors have given birth to abstract art. The artist no longer tries to reflect reality, but rather tries to give expression to their inner world and feelings.

The old definitions of art have become obsolete. Today, art is an evolving and global concept, open to new interpretation, too fluid to be pinned down."

"Do you recognise a feeling of joy that you can get when taking part in cultural activities such as music, museums, dance groups and theatre?

Getting involved with the arts can have powerful and lasting effects on health. It can help to protect against a range of mental health conditions, help manage mental ill-health and support recovery3."

"Art’s ability to increase pleasure and decrease stress combine to make a powerful boost to your sense of well being. And that increased mental health and well being goes on to have a profound positive impact in the rest of our lives.

While we all suspected it, science has given us ways to measure and think about this effect. A life lived with art is happier and healthier."
